International students at CalCC, experience a rewarding balance of culture, education and belonging, whether they are here for a short stay (one week up to three months) or as a longer term “visa” student. Students who are here for eight weeks or longer wear the CalCC uniform (purchase is optional for less than eight week stays) and quickly become a part of the fabric of our friendly College. At CalCC, International students are welcomed and engaged as locals, and ESL and cultural support is provided individually.
Non-visa (i.e. tourist visa) programs – such as Study Tours or short-term curriculum class placements – and longer-term students alike are provided with qualified and experienced tutors, excellent homestay arrangements and can take comfort that the College has a suite of policies and protocols tailored to the interests and wellbeing of ESL speakers. CalCC has been CRICOS registered since 1995.

homestays
Many students find staying with a local family to be the best part of the entire adventure of studying on the Sunshine Coast. Having local support and knowledge is just so valuable. You can practise conversation and get to know the best of local areas and customs. Your host family will support your wellbeing, provide you with healthy food and help meet your needs while you are visiting.
You, your homestay family and your parents in your home country are all given clear information and guidelines so that you know how CalCC can support you. In this way, the CalCC international office are very much a part of your homestay team throughout your stay.
Your commitment is:
- To try your best to communicate and engage with your homestay family members (be brave)
- To accept that cultural differences may be challenging at times, but know also that the reward of personal growth is well worth it
- To do your best to be a part of the family
- Speak to someone (a family member or international staff) whenever you have any confusion or concerns
